The Quality Denomination Qualification (Calificación de Denominación de Calidad) was created by decree 33/1983 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia to guarantee the origin and quality of food products.

The text of the Specific Name Regulation (Reglamento de la Denominación Específica) "ARROZ DEL DELTA DEL EBRO " (RICE FROM THE DELTA DEL EBRO) is ratified that was approved by order on 29th May 1989, modified by that of 22nd May 1991 of the del Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, which appears as an annexe hereto, which the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing assumes for the effects of promotion and defence in the domestic and foreign markets.

IGP Recognition
It has been registered as Protected Geographical Indication (Indicación Geográfica Protegida - IGP) according to Regulation (CE) no. 1107/96 of the Commission, published in the Official Journal of the European Communities no. L148 of 21-6-1996, p.1.
